H-D Recalls 2008 motorcycles built between May 6, 2007 through December 11, 2007

If you own one of the motorcycles being recalled you may have been noticing some problems as reported by many owners of 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycles. It seems that the fuel filter shell may crack and lead to problems.

FLHP, FLHPE, FLHR, FLHRC, FLHRSE4, FLHT, FLHTC, FLHTCU, FLHTCUSE3, FLHTP, FLHX, FLTR models built between May 6, 2007 through December 11, 2007 are being recalled under Harley-Davidson’s Safety Recall Campaign 0135. The recall will replace the fuel filter shell and replace the part number with an A at the end to denote the new part.

While checking the various Harley-Davidson forums, it does seem that many bikers already knew that their new bikes had problems and that H-D was making it offical by issuing the recall but now there is a even bigger problem.

It seems that there is a shortage of replacement parts and even new motorcycles being sold cannot be delivered until the fuel filter shell is replaced. So if you are the proud owner of a new Harley-Davidson, you might want to make sure that your bike was not produced during that time and look in the mail for your recall letter, if you have not got a letter yet, you are probally not within the recall or you just threw it out with all the junk mail most people get. Also call your local dealer to make sure that they have the parts in stock and can arrange a time for your bike. The repair should take less than an hour.
